P-47 Thunderbolt

It served as a high-altitude fighter escort and low-altitude fighter-bomber for Allied forces during World War II. It was the largest, heaviest and most expensive fighter jet in history to be powered by a single piston engine. The aircraft was designed and built around its powerful 2000 horsepower Pratt and Whitney radial engine. Due to its thick and massive appearance, it was nicknamed "The Jug".
