Waka Tanka... Shaman, it's not sorcery!

On the summer solstice, the Sioux tribes had the custom of sending their young sorcerers to the great Shaman.

Each apprentice had to prove their communion with Waka Tanka, the Great Spirit of all things, by summoning one of the totemic animals of their tribe before him.

Misfortune befell those whose incantations remained in vain. Some would not hesitate to conceal their failure by resorting to all sorts of tricks. Fortunately, the other sorcerers remained vigilant...
